That's how I discovered reading for myself...
Reading is not something that comes naturally, and I know that only too well from my own experience. As a dyslexic, I was confronted with the subject of reading from an early age. For me as a child, it was an immense challenge that burdened me every day and at the same time encouraged me. It was not until I was twelve years old that I learned to read properly and understand what I was reading. It was the magical world of Harry Potter that awakened in me the ambition to want to read myself in order to continue experiencing the story. "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" was the first book that I really tackled. Bit by bit, page by page, I fought my way through.
How did bookmarks start?
During this time I used all sorts of things as bookmarks, but I quickly realized that a book deserved more. Years later I came across a bookmark blank by chance and started decorating it with small beads. That's how I discovered my passion for designing bookmarks. Since then I have been designing bookmarks that for me reflect the value of a book and the magic of its worlds - a privilege to be able to read.
and today...?
Today I work as a teacher and pass on my love of books and reading. When school starts, I give my kindergarten children either a bookmark I made myself or a counting chain with the alphabet. I want to make the start of school easier for them and introduce them to the magic of reading.
